In the very first day of your studies new freshman known as “piltit” will be divided into their respective freshman groups. This differs slightly from the Finnish program’s as you will be divided into groups from the faculty of science. This group is led by a student tutor, who has been given training to guide you through the first steps of your studies. Your student tutor might not be exactly from your major but closely related to it. In the beginning you will be going around the campus area, getting to know your own department, university buildings and services. In addition to these you will also get familiar with the campus lunch facilities and Turku, in regards of free time and studying. The student association also becomes familiar during tutoring through the diverse program it organizes. For international students TYK ry has its own dedicated information presentation either during the orientation week or in the following weeks.
Student tutors guide you through the planning process of your own studies and anything related to studies you might have concerns with. If there’s something in your mind about studies, don’t hesitate to ask from your own student tutor or even the student organization’s freshman and tutor manager. If you have any questions rise during the summer, you can contact the student organization freshman and tutor manager.
